  Pablo Santibáñez, Ind. Eng, MM in OR
Operations Research Scientist


Pablo Santiba˝ez is an Operations Research Scientist with the CIHR Team in Operations Research for Improved Cancer Care.

Prior to joining the CIHR Team, Pablo worked for Fraser Health as the lead of the analytical team that supported one of Canada's largest health care planning initiatives, the Acute Care Capacity Initiative (ACCI). This large scale evidence-based planning process aimed at identifying Fraser Health's future acute care service needs.

After earning a BSc degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Chile, Pablo spent 5 years as an Operations Research (O.R.) consultant developing analytical models/applications for various industries. Prior to joining Fraser Health in 2005, Pablo earned his Masters Degree in O.R. from UBC's Centre for Operations Excellence, where he became involved in health care applications through the development of a study in surgical block scheduling.

Applications of Operations Research to planning and operations in health care and other industries:

  • Resource scheduling
  • Strategic planning

His most recent work includes the development of an allocation model for clinical services within a network of hospitals, to determine the service mix and resource capacity for every site and period in time.
